Space Academy Homeschool Enrichment Program prepares homeschool middle and high school students with the skills, knowledge, and abilities required to succeed in the new era of space exploration through STEM hands-on, space-related projects.
Space Academy Homeschool Enrichment Program is a nonprofit organization registered in the State of Colorado currently in the process of acquiring its 501c3 designation.
As a Homeschool Enrichment Program, Space Academy offers supplemental content to support homeschool students in their educational journey. It is a STEM program with no religious ties or affiliation.
We have partnered with Education ReEnvisioned BOCES to provide a free program for homeschool students during the academic year, from September to May.
Space Academy Homeschool Enrichment Program aligns with NASA guidelines and Aerospace Industry best practices. It does not align with common core standards, nor Colorado Academic Standards.

Mr. David “Colt” Simmons serves in the national and international advanced technology business development arenas. Mr. Simmons has held senior business, governmental and elective leadership positions at Rocky Mountain Innovation Partners (RMIP), US Space Command, and as Teller County, Colorado Assessor.
Mr. Simmons retired as a Lt. Colonel from US Space Command, now part of U.S. Space Force, and the U.S. Air National Guard where he served in Space Launch, Satellite Deployment and Operations, Command, and as a certified Master Space Operator and officer. Please see: https://rcadvisorygroup.com/
Carol Zanmiller, Secretary
Carol brings more than 40 years of aerospace and engineering experience to the Space Academy Homeschool Enrichment Program. After co-founding and leading Cosmic Advanced Engineered Solutions (Cosmic AES) for two decades—ultimately guiding it through its acquisition by Kratos—she now dedicates her time to mentoring emerging space ventures through the Creative Destruction Lab accelerator. With a career spanning defense, intelligence, commercial, and international space projects at Hughes, Lockheed Martin, and Booz Allen Hamilton, Carol is passionate about inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders. She leverages her industry expertise to help students gain real-world engineering insights, build confidence, and see their place in the future aerospace workforce. She holds engineering degrees from Michigan Technological University and the University of Colorado Boulder, and a master’s in business from Boston University.
